MU is looking for some young blood…

Yoyoyo what’s crackin McGill. As you might have noticed things have slowed down a little bit here at McGill Underground with the amount of postings and whatnot over the last little while. However, oddly enough, the site is more popular than ever (it has got to be those delivery menus…mmmm poutine). We are looking for some “utes” to help run the site. This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to be a part of the McGill community. You will A) get a chance to run a popular site that many McGillians visit B) have the opportunity to add your own flava flave and style to the site C) Have something to add to your resume (we can make it sound really good) and D) be sorta a big deal. The responsibilities are: adding new content, and updating previous content; keeping the boards clean; reviewing the teacher and course evaluations before they are posted; promoting the site; and basically any cool ideas you might have. Anyone interested for said “job” should e-mail us saying why you are the coolest person EVAR. Some Web experience is welcome but not necessary…but computer savvy is definitely a plus.

NEW YORK (AP) — It may feel like looking into the mirror for Bill O’Reilly and Stephen Colbert next week. The Fox News Channel host and Colbert, who has essentially based his comic character every evening on Comedy Central on him, will trade appearances on each other’s programs Jan. 18.

”I’m really looking forward to speaking to a man who owes his entire career to me,” O’Reilly said.

McGill Bookstore: “If you buy books here, you’re a thief”

So after purchasing my lone textbook for this semester and trying to calmly leave the McGill Bookstore, I was confronted by two bumbling security guards at the door who said, “Sir, we need to check your receipt.” After reading this article I was ready for something like this. I replied, “Are you implying that I stole something?” The guard threw his hands up mumbled something to his superior who was checking someone else’s receipt. He told me that I had to get in line and wait my turn to have my receipt checked. So apparently, if I didn’t buy anything… I would have been free to go. (like shoplifters would actually buy something to hide the fact that they stole something else) What further incensed me is that neither of the security guards were actually looking at the titles of the books purchased and cross checking it with the receipt, the were simply going through the motions and wasting my time. I realized these rent-a-cops were just simply following their orders and it would take more than one disobedient soul to actually make a difference, so I complied. Anyone out there who’s reading this, please read the linked article. Don’t respond to these professional time-wasters standing at the door and just exit the bookstore like a civilized human being.
